Habitat Improvements

Reedbed Improvements at Stanwick Lakes

The reedbeds at Stanwick Lakes are some of the largest in the county, but in recent years some areas have been drying out, threatening the wildlife that makes them their home. Thanks to Green Recovery Challenge funding, diggers have lowered the ground and created new irrigation channels, allowing the area to fill with water and making the perfect conditions for healthy reed growth. It may take a couple of years for this part of the reed bed to fully recover, but when it does, it will be the perfect habitat for our Reed Bunting, Sedge Warbler and Bitterns.
