Updated 21st June 2021

Stanwick Lakes’ car park, outdoor toilets, play areas and takeaway kiosk are open.

The toilets, shop and Reception in the Visitor Centre has reopened at weekends and school holidays. Cafe Solar is being refurbished and we look forward to unveiling a new, improved cafe in the autumn.

In the meantime, additional seating and an extended range of hot and cold food will be available at the Snack Shack, plus an exciting new takeaway offer will be opening in the central playground, serving drinks, ice-creams, waffles and crepes.

If you are trying to contact us please be aware we have a reduced number of staff working, so our response to emails, social media, voicemails etc may take a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

The site is open from 7am – 8pm. Cars left in the car park after this time risk being locked in overnight.

Outdoor toilets

These are open 7am – 8pm and are situated behind the refreshment kiosk. We advise that only one household at a time should use the toilet facilities. They are regularly cleaned.

Play equipment

All outdoor play equipment, including that on the assault course and adventure trail, is open. The waterplay has reopened.

Our rangers are working on site each day until 8pm. Please co-operate with any instructions they give.

Outdoor Refreshment Kiosk

Our ‘Snack Shack’ is open daily (10am – 5pm) serving light, wrapped refreshments, ice-creams and hot and cold drinks.

Visitor building – café, shop and toilets

The Visitor Centre has reopened at weekends and school holidays, although, the cafe remains closed.

The Hideaway Soft Play area

Cycle Hire

Please see the cycling page for information about cycle hire.

We are not currently able to run mass events and activities.

Socially distanced volunteering has resumed within guidelines for group sizes. If you would like to volunteer please contact us by emailing

Group activities

All craft workshops, Rainbow Cafés, and other group sessions in the Visitor Centre are suspended. This includes the Health Walks.

Stanwick Lakes is a large nature reserve and we are not able to clean all the surfaces you may come into contact with (gates, bird hides etc). We therefore advise that you come prepared with some disinfectant wipes. We ask that you respect other users’ personal space whilst on site, especially when in areas that are busy with people. Please visit, have fun, enjoy the site and stay alert.
