COVID-19

Updated 29th March 2021

The Stanwick Lakes site, car park, toilets, play areas and takeaway kiosk remain OPEN during lockdown, but the Visitor Centre is closed. Enjoy your daily exercise but please follow the latest government guidelines.

We have a reduced number of staff working, so our response to emails, social media, voicemails etc may take a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

Now that the clocks have changed the site will stay open until 8pm. Cars left in the car park after this time risk being locked in overnight. The site is open from 7am – 8pm.

Outdoor toilets

These are open 7am – 8pm and are situated behind the refreshment kiosk. We advise that only one household at a time should use the toilet facilities. They are regularly cleaned.

Play equipment

All outdoor play equipment, including that on the assault course and adventure trail, is open. The waterplay remains closed (owing to Government restrictions).

Rangers

Our ranger team are working on site each day until 8pm. Please cooperate with any instructions they give.

Outdoor Refreshment Kiosk

Our ‘Snack Shack’ is open daily (10am – 5pm) serving light, wrapped refreshments, ice-creams and hot and cold drinks.

Visitor building – café and shop

The Visitor Centre will be closed until further notice.

The Hideaway Soft Play area

This remains closed.

Barbecue area

This remains closed to discourage group gatherings. Barbecues are therefore not permitted on site.

Membership

It is possible to renew your membership or take out a new one at our Snack Shack refreshment kiosk.

Cycle Hire

The cycle hire is open daily from 10am – 6pm (last hire for one hour at 5pm) More info.

Events

We are not currently able to run events and activities.

Volunteers

All work parties are cancelled for the time being, and we are unable to support our many individual volunteers in their various roles until lockdown ends. We will keep in touch as the situation changes and very much look forward to your return.

Bookings

Group or individual bookings for the visitor centre will not be able to go ahead, and those affected will be contacted.

Group activities

All craft workshops, Rainbow Cafés, and other group sessions in the visitor centre are suspended. This includes the Health Walks.

Stanwick Lakes is a large nature reserve and we are not able to clean all the surfaces you may come into contact with (gates, bird hides etc). We therefore advise that you come prepared with some disinfectant wipes. We ask that you respect other users’ personal space whilst on site, especially when in areas that are busy with people. Please visit, have fun, enjoy the site and stay alert.
