The weather has turned colder and the days are becoming ever shorter which must mean Christmas is nearly here! The staff at Stanwick Lakes have been busy preparing for the coming festivities and look forward to celebrating with visitors over the next few weeks.
Santa Claus is coming to town, but more specifically he is coming to Stanwick Lakes on the weekends of 9th/10th and 16th/17th. Danielle has designed a magical grotto in the Visitor Centre that provides the idyllic introduction to Christmas that will encapsulate every child’s imagination for years to come! Book your time slot now! (9th, 10th, 16th, 17th) While you are at Stanwick Lakes, why not explore the playground, enjoy a brisk walk or come inside and enjoy some tasty food and a warming drink?
Get into the Christmas spirit and join us for our Christmas Celebration on Saturday 9th for a day of merriment and festivity. ‘Christmas’ will take over the Visitor Centre with an assortment of gift stalls and children’s crafts that can be enjoyed within the electric atmosphere that the caroling of Big About Singing will provide. Seasonal food and drinks will also be available and discounts for members.
The Winter Solstice is fast approaching which means Stanwick Lakes’ annual Solstice Lantern Walk is upon us once again! Wrap up warm on the shortest day of the year for an enchanted adventure around the Visitor Centre Lake followed by carols in the Outdoor theatre with Raunds Temperance Band. Refreshments will be on sale in the Visitor Centre to warm your spirit and The Big About Singing choir will be continuing the festivity with a selection of rousing songs. The day maybe short, but the celebrations will carry on into the night – make sure you bring a lantern or torch to light your way! Please only attend if you have a ticket as this event is now SOLD OUT.
We know how popular Christmas lunches have been over the past few years and how quickly tables get booked up. However, if you are hoping to enjoy Christmas Lunch in Café Solar this December you are not too late to book. Although don’t wait much longer as many of the slots are now full up!
A Boxing Day tradition of mine is simply to take the time to appreciate the gifts I received over the holiday – and to overindulge in Ferrero Rocher! However, a walk may be a more suitable activity to blow away some of the cobwebs and excesses of the season! If a Boxing Day walk is a family tradition of yours then come and see us and join the RSPB as they lead a FREE Family Bird Walk around the lakes around the lakes (10am -12 noon). We can’t guarantee a sparkly blue sky, but what we can guarantee is a fantastic place to spot wildlife of all sizes! As only the car park and outdoor toilets will be open, please meet outside the Rangers’ Cabin.
Merry Christmas to all our visitors from the team at Stanwick Lakes!
